Marilyn Mercer was born and raised in the Hamlet of Bissett Creek, Ontario, beside the Majestic Ottawa River, in the shadow of the Laurentian Mountains. Mercer discovered her latent artistic talent as a second and fun career. Leaving the concrete corridors of Toronto, she returned to the scene of her roots in the Beautiful Ottawa Valley and took up her paint brush. Her works reflect the freshness and peace of this locale.

Mercer is a “signature member” of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour and has studied extensively in workshops and on painting trips in Canada, Great Britain, France, Mexico and the USA. But her style and ability to interpret what she sees, hears and feels in her painting style is uniquely her own.

She bas exhibited throughout Canada, the United States and France and is a valued member of various art associations and societies.

Her paintings are in the Corporate office of Veratec (Canada) inc. and Senator Jacques Herbert’s office in the Senate Ottawa, the Stanford Inn, Bartow Florida. Many local charities have benefited in their fund raising efforts by a freely donated Mercer painting.
